The successful
laureates of the First ERC Advanced Grant call and panelists came to
Istanbul to share their experiences in 13th March 2009. Along with
grant laureates and panelists, research council presidents, ERC
Scientific Council members, ERC panelists, university chancellors,
researchers and many stakeholders of ERC had a chance, through the
round table discussions, to both applaud the accomplishments of
these researchers and shared their opinions on frontier research as
a whole and on ERC grants in particular.

Research Talent
The Scientific and Technological Research
Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) EU Framework Programmes National
Coordination Office organized a conference on Attracting Research
Talent in cooperation with TuRBo-ppp (Turkish Research and Business
Organizations-Public Private Partnership) and SBRA (Slovenian
Business and Research Association) on February 12th, 2009 in Ankara,
aiming to emphasize the significance of hosting institutions in
attracting research talent to European Research Area. The Conference
was supported by EREF (European Regional Economic Forum), a platform
of European regions on knowledge economy and society acting as a
bridge between EU Member states and countries of South-Eastern
Europe.
